Grace Church, in coordination with LOVE Inc. and other local churches, set out to bless members of the Lititz community through service projects. Homeowners could call in to LOVE Inc. with the needs they had around their house, and then the projects were split between Lititz churches. We received three of the projects.
Last Saturday, a group of people from Grace Church had the opportunity to bless a couple from our own church body though one of our Lititz Projects. The group consisted of Kyle Pickel (leader), Rick Beale, Jason Santiago, Brian Zook, Dan and Vanessa Vastyan, Angela Marley and her son and friends, Dan Schwartz, Jerri Pickel, and Rockalyn Trent.
Here’s a few words from Kyle Pickel, the leader for the Hendricks’ Lititz Project.
It was a blessing to serve God this past weekend with an incredible group of volunteers to help the Hendricks out with some much needed yard work and painting. It was an great experience to use the skills the Lord has given me to head up this project. I have been praying for God to direct me to where I can use my skills to best serve him, and also to where I can become more involved with the church. This was a great opportunity to do both; truly a blessing to give back.
We had a great jump on the project thanks to Rick, who came over on Thursday and Friday to get started. The group that came on Saturday came with a passion to work hard and be a blessing to the Hendricks. With that passion, we were able to tackle a big project. It seemed a little daunting at first, but with everyone working together and sweating in the heat, we were able to accomplish the tasks at hand. We tackled all kinds of projects: we weeded, cut down trees, trimmed trees, pruned and shaped bushes and also edged all around the flower beds. The biggest project was cutting back all the over grown bamboo and ivy that completely blocked the back sun porch. We also painted the front door and window, as well as the back door and garage door.
The Hendricks now have one less worry on their hands and were so thankful to have everyone’s help. This will allow them to focus on more important issues in their lives.
We love when people have the opportunity to serve in an area in which they are skilled and passionate. Keep checking up here on the blog to hear about new opportunities in which you can serve!
