The Joy of Giving: Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a project Grace Church has participated in for a number of years. Through this project we are able to supply children with fun and useful gifts as well as with an opportunity to be exposed to the Gospel. This is a simple and fun way to teach our children about the joy of giving, but is also fun for adults to think about fun items to include that allow them to tangibly show love to a child.

We have a table in the hallway off the lobby, closest to most of our children’s programming. On this table you will find a brochure that will explain the details of filling a shoebox (or similarly sized container). This includes a suggestion list of items based upon the sex and age of the child you desire to give a gift to. It also explains the $7 donation that is asked for to help offset the shipping costs. Also there are labels for the boxes along with instructions for you to follow before dropping off the box here at the church.

Also, we are supplying preprinted boxes this year that make it even easier for you to join the fun. Due to the demand we have ordered more and they will be here by November 9 at the latest. Also, because we desire for many people to be involved we are asking that you limit the number of boxes you take to two boxes per family.

Filled boxes will be collected through Sunday, November 16. They can be dropped off at the table where the brochures and boxes were picked up. As a church we transport them to a national collection site on your behalf. **Please note that will not be able to take boxes any later than November 16. If you miss this deadline, please follow the instructions for drop off or mailing of the box(es) on the Samaritan’s Purse website.**
